What does the word "Gobelino" mean?

Its meaning is as follows:

The gobelin is a very fine tapestry. Made in Paris, its name comes from Jehan Gobelins. Who was a dyer from the 15th century, well known for the red tones that he achieved in his creations.

The area, where his workshop was located, acquired his surname in the 16th century. At the time of having its own factory, it adopts the following name: 'Manufacture Royale des Gobelins de Paris.

Ancient gobelins are fabrics woven from silk and wool. These carry different images such as: flowers, human characters and different landscapes, which are placed on armchairs, chairs and walls.
