Vintage oval shaped pin with a scrimshaw like etching. I don’t believe this is real scrimshaw. Gold-tone metal frame. Etching is a wild rabbit, wild hair. Delicate etching & coloring.

This listing features a vintage Museum of Fine Arts Boston (MFA) scrimshaw pin or brooch. It bears the image of a what I believe is a bunny rabbit/wild hair. As with any scrimshaw item, it is highly detailed & very intricately made. I don’t know what material was used for the scrimshaw, although I don’t believe it was bone or natural. I actually suspect it is probably some type of malleable plastic. This piece is set in a gold-tone metal & bears a safety clasp closure on the back. The clasp works. Pin is marked with "MFA" on the back, bottom middle. I do believe this piece to be an older Item. Since it is used it may have some wear from age, use
& storage. I don’t see any obvious condition issues.
