For sale is a vintage brass Baltimore & Ohio Railroad switch lock and key set manufactured by the F.S. Hardware Co. This specific lock is marked "LSTAT," which stands for "Local Station". Railroad switch locks were used to secure track switches, signals, and other railroad properties to prevent unauthorized operation or tampering. The lock is made of brass and has developed a natural patina consistent with age.
The lock is not frozen, and the keyhole cover has a strong spring but set slightly askew to the right. The lock is stiff when opening & closing it. A very nice lock that you can proudly display!
