A quirky item full of character - from the days when doing the washing was a labour intensive effort this posser or washing plunger was used to agitate clothes in a tub of water. It has a wooden handle and a copper, sprinkler-type head with ventilation holes. Most likely dates from the 1930s or perhaps earlier. The item shows significant signs of age, including dents and green verdigris (patina) formations which I think adds to its attraction. It is 16" long including handle and the head diameter is 8".
