This iron is actually more of a antique than vintage. Blessing and Drake were made in Newark N. J in the late 19th century, which would place this piece in the 1890’s. Sad is an old English word for solid , and these irons are solid cast iron. This iron did come with the latest innovation which was the Mrs. Potts detachable wooden handle, so the user had something cool to grab hold of while ironing,also you could switch heated bases while ironing. This piece will be a great addition to any collection of late 1900’s items. This piece is in great shape, there is rust ( see pictures) which is not uncommon for metal that was constantly getting hot and then cooled. The trivet is included and will be a good way to display your iron.
