This vintage Avon rhinestone and sapphire blue Lucite waffle set brooch and earrings is a stunning example of costume jewelry imitating the look of invisibly set gemstones that Cartier introduced in the 1930s. Avon succeeded well with this replication, the rich cobalt color of the waffle panels bordered by sparkling diamante rhinestone chatons set in glowing silver plating create a highly dimensional flower pin and clip earrings with an arresting presence. This signed 1980s set is in near mint vintage condition; the brooch measures 2” and the earrings measure I”.
