Exceptional and Finely Designed, VICTORIAN, Crepe Stone (Black Glass), Black Laquered MOURNING SASH BROOCH.
Measuring 2 1/4" x 3" x 3/8" deep with a secure ANTIQUE T-Hinge and C-Clasp, this Momento Mori piece dates from the 1880-1900 period.
The slightly curved, openwork swirl base is black lacquered enamel over a silver-tone metal base.
Dimensional round and pyramid-shaped ribbed black CREPE STONE glass pieces are hand-set on the base, in a wonderful geometric array.
Extremely Fine Condition ~ under high magnification, some flea bites to enameled edges. These minor flaws are reflected in the price.
