A combat uniform of the Navy seen in the late stages of World War II.
It was mainly issued to ground personnel and Seabees.
It closely resembles the Army's herringbone twill jacket (PQD45B) used at the same time, but the position of the distinctive chest pocket is set lower than that of the latter.
According to one theory, this was done to prevent the top from becoming heavy in the water, which is a very Navy-like reason.
