About Larry Clark:
Larry Clark himself had a past of drug addiction, and he took photos of himself injecting drugs. Critics have said that his photos "exposed the reality of the fringes of American suburban life, shattering the long-held belief that drugs and violence were merely features of the urban landscape." He has touched on drug abuse, underage sex, violence, and subcultures such as punk and skateboarding.
During the period of the photo books "Tulsa" and "Teenage Lust," he was arrested and imprisoned for 5 years for illegal possession of a gun and assault.
"Tulsa" is said to have influenced Martin Scorsese's "Taxi Driver" and Gus Van Sant's "Drugstore Cowboy."
