The seemingly highly representational outlines of Kasai's still lifes are, in fact, not concrete at all. Rather, they suggest a geometric demand that is almost abstract, equivalent to a strict two-dimensional boundary, devoid of three-dimensionality or illusionism.
And what reinforces this intuition is the artist's own clear statement, which completely disregards the concreteness of the motif and can only be described as that of an abstract painter: "As I pursue the various spaces woven by shapes, I feel as if an infinite world is expanding, and I never get tired of it."
