This is the exhibition catalog for the "Representations of the World: Otto Neurath and His Time" exhibition held at Musashino Art University in 2007.
It introduces the world and historical scope of "ISOTYPE (International System Of Typographic Picture Education)," devised by the Austrian sociologist Otto Neurath in the early 20th century, as a "visual communication media representing the world."
It also includes important later achievements that followed the ISOTYPE flow, such as Rudolf Modley's pictorial statistics, Kenzo Tange / Shinzo Kiuchi's "Regional Structure of the Japanese Archipelago: Atlas," and Richard Saul Wurman's "Urban Atlas: 20 American Cities."
