Phil would do blood drives at various cities where he was playing and would sign these for donors.
Every concert he would have his "Donor Rap" encouraging people to sign up to become organ donors.
Phil Lesh received a donated liver in 1998. He received his liver from a young man named Cody and honored him at every show thanking him and his family for his generosity.
