Released in 1975, this is the 8th album by Philadelphia-born jazz guitarist Pat Martino, released on Muse. The quartet features Eddie Green on electric piano, Tyrone Brown on bass, and Sherman Ferguson on drums. Produced by Michael Cuscuna. This album showcases Martino's breathtaking, technically brilliant swinging guitar playing, including a cover of John Coltrane's classic "Impressions." A cool and exhilarating track.
"Consciousness," written by his close friend, saxophonist Eric Kloss, and played with Chuck Corea, is a number that Pat feels strongly about. The groovy rhythm, electric piano and bass solos, and the gorgeous guitar work throughout make this a masterpiece. The heartwarming guitar on the Brazilian funk track "Along Came Betty" and the quiet, transparent phrases of Joni Mitchell's "Both Sides Now" offer a refreshing listening experience.
This is a 1975 US Muse original (MR-5039), white label promo. A very rare promotional copy that is rarely seen these days.
