Mechanics’ Pocket Memoranda Antique 1898 Fifth Edition Engineering Book

First published in October 1893 (3000 copies), this 1898 (the 77th thousand) Fifth Edition, has flexible hardbound dark leather boards. Book title is in gold gilt on front cover that shows wear and rubbing along all sides, rear cover also has wear especially at bottom edge, less at front and top. The spine has five recessed black bands (matching stitched binding) with back strip worn at the top, and missing from the bottom. Corners were round at publication and all show wear and thinning of the leather. The spine is straight and firmly attached to hinges, with no cracking to the endpapers – although the front free endpaper is missing. Text block has gold gilt edges on all three sides and is solid with all pages firmly attached. Attached to the rear inside board is a pocket that is empty. Age tanning throughout. Interior pages are clean with no tears, cracks, or previous owner marks. 331 pages plus five pages of publisher information. Dimensions: H – 5-1/4” W – 3-1/4”
