The pre-curved shoulder and waist harness with padded hip belt and sternum strap transfers load properly and reduces fatigue on longer portages, and the removable and adjustable tumpline gives experienced trippers the option to shift some of that weight to their forehead on extended carries the way generations of voyageurs have done on these same routes.

The 840D nylon shell is tough enough for the wet, abrasive conditions of backcountry canoe tripping, and ballistic nylon straps with double bar-tacked reinforcements at the stress points mean this pack holds up across seasons of hard use. Multiple webbing handles positioned around the pack make unloading from a canoe significantly easier, particularly when you're working from a rocky shore or a shallow landing.
