STUNNING vintage gold fill opal pendant necklace. The stunning piece has a genuine Boulder or Black Opal triplet (not sure which), set in a gold filled setting. A doublet is when there is a layer of opal attached to a dark backing, such as iron. This is when the opal is too fragile to be without it and can sometimes be quite thin. A triplet is the same as a doublet, but with an additional layer of glass on top. This is a triplet. It is a genuine Opal with the support, This one does show areas of bubbles between the glass and the stone, But you really don’t see them unless under a bright light. The setting is a Black Hills Gold style with rose gold and yellow gold leaf accents. This is marked, gold filled. The stone is blue with flashes of green, pink and purple. It hangs on an 18” gold over sterling chain with a spring clasp. The total length of the pendant is 1 3/8” long and this is not a small stone! N1
