Included is a display box, and the items you'll receive match the quality shown. The full iridescent ammonite and two cut halves, discovered in Madagascar's Mahajanga province, exhibit a stunning rainbow hue. This is due to an opal-like layer called nacre, which, under favorable conditions, preserves the nacre on ammonoid shells during fossilization. Additionally, you'll receive a second genus, Perisphinctes, featuring tight ridges along their shells, unearthed in Madagascar around 174.1 million years ago, marking the start of the Jurassic period. Ammonites are the fossilized remains of extinct mollusk-like animals, most closely related to today's squids and cuttlefish, which inhabited Earth's oceans for over 340 million years until their demise alongside dinosaurs in the Cretaceous period's mass extinction event. Size: approximately 2cm-3cm.
