Pirates World was a small theme park located on the north side of Sheridan Street in Dania east of US-1 south of Ft. Lauderdale.
It opened in 1967 and was a successful venture from the very beginning until it closed in 1973.
Pirates World was also the location of several rock concerts.
Among the groups who performed here were Led Zeppelin, The Grateful Dead, Black Sabbath, Grand Funk Railroad, David Bowie, and many others.
When Walt Disney World opened in October 1971, Pirates World attendance began to decline until it finally had to close.
