She was Goddess of the underworld and the heavens and one of the earliest concepts of earth mother. One of her many roles was both the judge and protector of the dead. Isis was also connected to the star Sirius as the rising of Sirius coincided with the annual flooding of the Nile which guaranteed another year of abundance and wealth.
