Antique Royal Vienna Porcelain White with Gold Gilt Painted Chocolate Pot. A beautiful white porcelain pot hand painted with intricate gold design and is a stunning example of a Royal Vienna antique.
There is a unique square lid to make room for the molinet (frother). Chocolate was a rare & exotic commodity in 17th & 18th centuries. Wealthier Europeans prepared and served this delicacy the only way they could—as hot chocolate. Preparing it entailed melting ground cacao beans in hot water, adding sugar, milk and spices and then frothing the mixture with a stirring stick called a molinet.
Royal Vienna porcelain is known for its decorative style, which is influenced by Renaissance paintings and sculptures.
Vienna beehive mark on bottom and a gold # 1. Great condition, no issues.
