This book is an extremely rare collectible from the 1876 Philadelphia Centennial Exposition. Its impressive feat is its 51 bookplate engravings of various historical sites around Philadelphia, Fairmount Park, and Washington DC. I included pictures of all of them.
Examples include: Indepencence Hall, Academy of Fine Arts, Moyamensing Prison, Philadelphia Library, Eastern States Penitentiary, US Commercial Exchange, Masonic Temple, US Mint, Chestnut Street Bridge, and various Fairount Park Scenes, and buildings for the Exposition. The other sections of the book are all recipies/home remedies from 1876. A cool insight to what life was like back then!
The book is in poor condition. The spine is detached, and taped with a white canvas like tape. Pages are coming out in large sections. First 6 pages are missing. Folds and wear to many pages. Offered for sale because it still contains 51 original, RARE Philadelphia bookplate engravings.
