Alphacool HDX Pro Air - M.2 NVMe 2280 SSD

SSDs in M.2 format are becoming increasingly popular. The high transfer rates and extremely low access times allow faster and more effective working and gaming. To ensure that the full performance of the M.2 SSD can be used permanently, Alphacool offers the HDX PRO Air M.2 SSD cooler.

Why an M.2 cooler?
Due to their design, M.2 SSDs are only able to call up their maximum performance for short periods. The controller chip heats up extremely quickly and starts to reduce the performance of the M.2 SSD early to prevent overheating. Independent tests have shown that during write operations, the transfer rates of uncooled M.2 SSDs can drop after only 30 seconds. For read operations, the throttling usually occurs a few seconds later. With the Alphacool HDX Pro Air M.2 SSD cooler, the maximum performance of the SSD can be used over a significantly longer period of time. This is clearly noticeable during longer read and write operations.

How do I mount the cooler?
The HDX Pro Air M.2 cooler is compatible with both sides of M.2 SSDs. All you have to do is place the appropriate thermal pad on the lower cooling plate, then the M.2 SSD is placed on top. A further heat conduction pad is then placed on the top of the M.2 SSD and the cooler is placed on top of it. To keep the whole thing together, 4 clips are attached. The installation onto the mainboard is then done as usual.
