In the 2000's these became more of a scarcity due to the Frida and Diego Rivera replacement $500 pesos banknote that began circulating, pushing these into lower prints and out of circulation by 2008.
These notes aren't common anymore in Mexico's circulation, and sought after. Most people hold on to these notes once in possession, even though they still can be used to purchase goods and services up to date.
